A community’s access to quality healthcare is important to the well-being of its residents. The central Arizona region is fortunate to be supported by many quality providers of services ranging from general medicine, medical specialists, dental providers, vision providers and other services you would expect from a growing region.
In addition to the local health care providers, the region’s central location to Phoenix and Tucson expands the provider options to the residents. These additional choices allow residents to experience a great ability to meet their healthcare needs.
Banner Casa Grande Medical Center
Banner Casa Grande Medical Center (BCGMC) is a 187-bed, nonprofit community hospital providing comprehensive healthcare to the Casa Grande Valley as well as the surrounding areas. There are more than 150 physicians who are active members of the medical staff. The hospital’s mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of patients through compassion and excellence in service. The hospital strives to provide each patient with an outstanding experience as well as to exceed their expectations.
BCGMC provides quality care within their 187 private rooms including Medical, Surgical, Pediatric, Telemetry, Intensive Care and Obstetrics Inpatient Services. The hospital also offers an impressive line-up of additional services. The Wound Center features two hyperbaric oxygen chambers, as well as other advanced treatment for hard to heal wounds; a comprehensive Sleep Lab with four comfortable rooms; Surgical Services for both inpatients and outpatients; GI and Endoscopy lab; a full-service Laboratory; Outpatient Imaging with state-of-the-art equipment through Desert Reflections Imaging Center; a 10-bed inpatient Behavioral Health unit; and comprehensive Rehabilitation Services featuring Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Occupational Therapy. These services give the community convenient access to the latest procedures and equipment available.
BCGMC’s newest service opened in April of 2011. Central Arizona Breast Center at Desert Reflections is a comprehensive center offering women exactly what they need to maintain optimal breast health. The Center provides digital screening and diagnostic mammograms, as well as breast ultrasound, breast MRI and breast biopsy. In addition, a dedicated Breast Care Coordinator works with patients who require additional testing or surgical referrals to ensure they have timely appointments and there is no gap in their care.
In 2010, BCGMC became one of the 2.6% of hospitals nationwide to achieve a HIMSS Level 6 EMR adoption designation for their Electronic Medical Record (EMR). They are the 115th hospital out of over 5,000 and were the first in the state to receive this prestigious award. This comprehensive EMR facilitates better communication between providers and promotes an improved environment for patient safety. This system has also increased the hospital’s quality outcomes which have led to increased patient satisfaction and enhanced patient safety. BCGMC’s infection rate is at .2%, which is much lower than the 2.5% infection rate average nationwide.
Emergency Services are critical in serving the local community. In 2009, BCGMC began an interventional cardiac program, allowing patients who are suffering from a heart attack to be treated locally in less than 90 minutes. BCGMC’s 24-hour emergency department strives for patients to see a physician within 30 minutes of arrival. BCGMC serves as a base station, providing medical direction to 11 emergency service providers and 300 Emergency Medical Services personnel in Pinal County. Through partnership with AirEvac and Southwest Ambulance, there is a medical helicopter stationed on the campus and an RN-staffed ambulance. The BCGMC Urgent Care meets the demands of the community for after-hours, non-emergent medical care. The Urgent Care is staffed with both a physician and nurse practitioner seven days a week from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. The Urgent Care is located at 1676 E. McMurray Blvd., at the intersection of Arizola and McMurray, northwest of the main BCGMC campus.
